Accreditation Overview & Accountability
York Christian College & Divinity School and the York Christian International University are members and accredited by the York Christian Educational Accrediting Association International and the National Educational Accrediting Association of the Council of Churches of the York Christian Liaison Force, Inc.
This requirement of “accredited membership” is evaluated annually. The “Commission on Accreditation” evaluates each satellite campus for compliance and re-certification.
Teachers are re-certified after meeting the criteria, evaluation and their educational skills and performance.
Accreditation is a process which a facility’s services and operations are examined by a third-party accrediting agency to determine if applicable standards are met. Should the facility meet the accrediting agency’s standards, the facility receives accredited status from the accrediting agency.
In the U.S., the term is most often used with reference to schools and hospitals. Accreditation of the institutions is performed by private non-profit membership associations known as
“accreditors.”
YCEAAI & NEAA. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation oversees accrediting agencies and provide guidelines as well as resources and relevant data. In contrast, in many other countries the authority to operate and educational institution is at the discretion of the central government, typically through the Ministry of Education (MOE). in these countries, the MOE may provide functions similar to those accreditation body, depending on resources and government interests.
Accreditation in the U.S.A.
When discussing accreditation in the U.S., it is important that the concept of "accreditation" not be confused with the authority to operate. The authority to operate a school in the
U.S. is granted by each of the states individually. As the U.S. is a federal republic, the authority of the U.S. Department of Education does not extend to authorizing schools to operate, to enroll students, or to award degrees. In addition, the U.S. Department of Education is not responsible to accreditation of institutions.
In the U.S.A. the accreditation of schools has long been established as a peer review process coordinated by accreditation commissions and the members. There are six regional accreditors.
They include among their membership nearly all elementary schools, junior high schools, middle schools, high schools, community colleges, public universities and private universities.
There are 52 recognized national accrediting bodies. The national accreditors include a variety of religious, professional, and vocational accreditors, and get their name from their common policy for accrediting schools nationwide or even worldwide. Requirements for accreditation vary from each National Accreditor according to the specialty Religious schools may seek regional accreditation or a secular national accreditation, or they have the option of four different specialized agencies, which include Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools (AARTS), Association of Theological Schools in the U.S. and Canada (ATS), Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), and Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACTS). These groups specialized in accrediting theological and religious schools including seminaries and graduate schools of theology as well as “normal’ universities, which teach from a religious viewpoint and may require students and/or faculty to subscribe to a Statement of Faith.
YCEAAI and the NEAA are not included in these accrediting bodies since our specialization is for the purpose of training our members for the Christian Ministry at large.
A graduate from our school/satellite wishing to use an unaccredited degree not approve by the state must make it clear that the school is not accredited by any State Agency.
Please Note: Neither of these accrediting associations (YCEAAI - NEAA) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for issuing or licensing professional certificates.
However, the “associations” are recognized by the Christian Educational Community Institutions and Church organizations.
In the United States, unlike other countries there is “no single nationwide procedure” for licensing or accrediting Colleges and Universities. Each of the fifty states sets its own policy for licensing of institutions and awarding degrees.
NOTE: The degree programs of the York Christian College & Divinity School and the York Christian International University are designed
solely for Religious Vocations and the Christian Ministry.
In 1985 several private school organization which accredited their members schools, worked with the U.S. Department of Education Office of
Private Education in seeking “Federal” recognition of their accreditation programs. However, the Department General Counsel ruled there
was not statutory authority for the Department to recognize any elementary-secondary accrediting agencies including “regional associations”
such as the “North Central Association of Colleges and Schools,” “Southern Association of Colleges and Schools” and etc. However, because of our
First Amendment to the Constitution
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
We, (Council of Churches of the York C.L.F., Inc., College and University) have the right to:
(1) Promote the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ among our Christian Community here in the main land and abroad. This includes establishing
“Educational Institutions” and “Accrediting” those Institutions through our own “Accredited Association.” for our affiliate members who seek to advance in their religious and
academic education for the Christian Ministry.
(2) We have the right to have our own “Religious Accrediting Association” and have in place a “Commission for Accreditation” in order to accredit our Religious Institutions without
State or Governmental interference.
“York Christian International University” and “York Christian College & Divinity School” are a degree-granting institutions, established as a non-profit corporations in the
State of Florida as a Religious Schools under the “Council of Churches of the York C.L.F., Inc.”
The “Council” was founded and established in 1971, Jamaica, New York. “The Divinity School” is primarily founded and organized for the members of the “Council” and its
“Affiliated Churches and Christian Educational Institutions.” All candidates MUST become a member of the “Council” while a student in the YCEM Degree Program.
In addition, the candidate must be active and in good standing at their local Church.
The religious Schools, organizations or teachers who have accepted our “Doctrinal Statement” and have become members of the “York C.L.F. Christian Educational Ministry"
are required to an accountability to refrain from dictating school policy, while offering recommendations, suggestions and direction for strengthening and for development of
higher quality Christian education. Transfer or recognition of past studies ultimately is handled by the local satellite campus administration to which the student is applying.
Questions Generally Asked

This has to be completed prior to acceptance into the York Christian Educational Program.
